The things Isaiah says!

I'm continuing on with the 7 Posts in 7 Days challenge.
But today will be a quick one, as I have a sick four-year-old.

While out at the grocery store this morning -- we had gone to pick up ingredients for chicken soup for said four-year-old -- Isaiah, my two-year-old, saw something and said "Mommy's privacy!"

I got terrified, wondering what he was referring to. I turned around to see he was holding a box of toilet paper.

I guess when I say "Mommy needs some privacy"  while using the loo, he thought that was what toilet paper was called?

On Monday I needed to do some errands -- the weekly groceries, a trip to the bank, and I was in need of a gift for my mother-in-law who's birthday was coming up. She is an avid bibliophile, and I thought she might like One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, something I haven't read (yet!) but based on my exposure to Ann Voskamp's writing, it really seemed up my mother-in-law's alley. Rather than wasting the gas by going into the city another day during the week, I decided to bundle the kids up and do all the errands in one packed morning. We had a grand ol' time. We always do, really, when we head out (especially when we are lucky enough to have  this song  play on the radio while we cruise around). Soup, Mrs. Peters' style

Probably anyone who reads this blog familiar with the book " The Seven Silly Eaters " but for those who aren't, it's an absolutely charming tale of a couple who have a baby, and then another one, and then another one, all the way up to seven children in rapid succession, including twins. Each child is beloved and sweet... and each child comes with his or her own peculiar food preference and will not tolerate anything else. The kind but harried mother is left preparing seven different meals for her seven silly eaters every single day. It's told in delightful rhymes and the illustrations are simultaneously charming and hilarious as the happy but chaotic family life is chronicled. My children love this book, and have large sections memorized from having read it to them over and over. The weary world rejoices

Here we are in the Octave of Christmas, otherwise known as "I have more free time on my hands with Patrick off work this week AND not using the computer and thus I blog." It's an annual tradition. Advent has come and gone, and Christmas is here to stay for a goodly long time (if you count it until Candlemas, we have Christmas straight until 12 days before Ash Wednesday this year). I'm currently wearing my most festive apron over my boring mom uniform of leggings + tunic top, after having just made shortbreads for the clan for an afternoon snack. Amazon boxes and duct tape to create... something. There is a pleasant holiday feeling in the air, and it is oh-so-welcome.
