"There's a full-term baby in there!"

My new response to the ridiculous comments on how BIG I look (like to the lady who said, "You're bigger than me when I was having my TWINS!") will be, "Of COURSE I look big! There's a full term baby in there!" I'm actually not hurt by those comments (anymore) but still so very very surprised by people's tactless. And yes, I WAS hurt at one point in my pregnancy, making me think that many other pregnant women are, too, so people should just get over themselves and say something NICE! How far along? I'm 37 weeks, 5 days. That means TWO WEEKS from Monday is my due date! Maternity clothes? I'm running low on anything a) cute that also b) still fits. Alas, this is to be expected. Thankfully I have a pretty dress I can still fit into, so I will most likely be seen at home making bread and changing diapers rather dolled up for the next few weeks. Sleep? Well, my heartburn is actually intense now, so much that I sometimes think I am go...

Mommy: Noah, what happens after Jesus dies on the cross? Noah: Up, up, up! Christ is risen, everyone! Rejoice!

Where has the time gone?

From tiny little baby taking our breath away to adorable little infant, learning new skills. The months have flown by and each one has been an opportunity to fall more and more in love with this little face, this adorable smile, these hilarious moments, these joyful times I wouldn't trade for anything in the whole world. It hasn't always been easy, but these past two years have the been the best, by far, of my life. I am so excited to see what God has in store for you in the coming months and years! I love you! Happy birthday!

A fairytale

Once upon a time there was a queen with a busy almost-two year old. She happened to be eight months pregnant and so was naturally tired by doing much of anything. After getting almost no sleep the night before, except for a few cat-naps that were ravaged by terrifying nightmares of untold things happening to her while giving birth she woke up to discover the dishwasher, which was acting funny, was officially gonzo. Trying to be cheerful, she worked on a craft for a little two year old's upcoming birthday and was delighted to discover that as she cut out the felt "Happy Birthday" letters, he recognized the letter 'p'. She diligently then made two loaves of bread and Wheat Thins , set up some paints and did crafts with her son and washed the breakfast dishes. Meanwhile she reminded herself that a productive morning is always worth it when a nap can be had by the toddler, and the pregnant lady. Said toddler went down for his nap, the castle was quiet, a...

And baby makes 4... soon!

How far along? I will be 35 weeks tomorrow, which actually means 36 weeks on Monday. Confused? So is my otherwise great doctor. I keep telling him, I know when this baby was conceived, he or she is 6 days further along than you think. But he prefers to calculate my due the old fashioned way. In any case, I will be having this baby soon . I can hardly believe it! Total weight gain: I am having a hard time calculating this because I keep being told my weight in kilos. I know, I know, I could find the conversion from kilos to pounds online and whip out a calculator. But it's not that important to me. What I do know is that I have gained way less weight at this stage in this pregnancy than the last, my blood pressure is still at a 'perfect' level (so says the nurse who last checked me) and I am feeling healthy and looking relatively well (minus the bags under my eyes and my skin having that mommy-needs-a-day-at-the-spa, or at least a-morning-to-herself, look.). Maternity ...
