Restoring the family to Christ
You're a little overwhelmed. There seems to be so much laundry, there is always food to make, and your husband is working long hours in a demanding job and a Master's degree. The toddler gets sassy and won't sit quietly and the baby needs to nurse a lot.You start to feel so sad, discouraged, by all the things your husband write about for a living. You miss just enjoying your kids instead of being tired by them.
"Lord, we need some rest. We need some time for renewal." You pray this, wondering just how He could go about restoring your family peace.
And He delivers.
One week in a rustic cabin with no Internet or telephone to distract us. Just daily Mass, time at the lake, playing in the sand pit and being together as a family. We enjoyed speaking with other families, watching our children play together, having them minister to us -- without even meaning to -- by their witness, our conversations together.
Cana Colony mightn't sound appealing on paper, with it's lack of electricity and running water. But what one gives up quickly pales in comparison to what one receives --peace, prayer, and true delight in God's beautiful creation, the earth He made and especially the children He gave to us.
What a wonderful way to spend a week.
