7 Quick Takes: A homage to my twenties
People! It is my final day as twenty-something (and by -something, I mean, -nine. As in, it's my final day being twenty-nine). Clearly this needs to be documented for posterity's sake. Here are 7 Quick Takes in honour of my roarin' twenties.

I met this guy just one month short of my twentieth birthday.
Here we are when we were young and unmarried, looking way less tired.
In case you were wondering, it was not love at first sight.
Not even close.
He approached me at an event that was being run by CCO. He knew a surprising amount of information about me, considering we had never met, so I was put off by his eagerness. I considered it to be a hidden agenda.
It was, I guess. He kinda fancied me from the get-go.
But I was busy discerning a religious vocation. Ahem.

Naturally, I came around (see subsequent takes).

After a winding road of studies, (I attended three different institutions, although my heart's alma mater will always be Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy), I graduated from university with my Bachelor of Arts with a Major in English.
Despite the debt it put me in, I will never regret my education. It put me on a path on how to actually think.

I worked for a short time before the inevitable uber-Catholic proposal -- on one knee, in front of a statue of Mary, after praying the Rosary, on the feast of St. Therese.
I said "yes" of course, but my first words were actually "are you serious?!"

And then there was this:
A day more wonderful than I could have hoped for, with a man better than I could have hoped for, too. We were so giddy, we barely ate our dinner at the reception. We danced like so many other young Catholics from the JPII era to Matt Maher's "Set Me As A Seal." We had dreams and hopes to fill a lifetime.

And 10 months later. . .
Noah Paul Joseph

And twenty-five months after. . .
Isaiah Brendan Joseph

And twenty-nine months after. . .
Anna Therese Marie
Well done, Jenna-in-your-twenties. You were remarkably blessed, given what a wildly immature goof you were. I guess that proves just how unconditional God's love is.
Lord, I am not worthy.

You still look young, giddy, and not very tired in Anna's baptism picture! Happy birthday, Jenna! Here's to a decade well spent.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, a lovely family.
