Five Favourites -- yet again

These current favourites of mine are what are keeping me smiling during these long, hot summer days in my third trimester.
I hope you enjoy them, too!

1.
This song.

Surely someday I will be cool enough to wear purple boots and shop at Anthropologie?
For now, I'm resigned to wearing Mary-Janes and sticking to Value Village.

2.
Wherein she likens her advanced state of pregnancy to all sorts of glamorous things like a penguin,

or Chris Farley

and offers hysterical suggestions on how to provide extra support for her poor aching back.

Maybe it's my current state of waddling, or my hormones making me laugh (or cry) uproariously over almost nothing, but I was definitely cry-laughing over this.

3.

"Quinoa's origami elephant was enough to win first prize
at the school performance art show,
but the matching origami outfits she produced
for herself and her stagehands, Orchid and Ombre,
brought down the house."

Good grief, the captions! So funny!
This is like Suri's Burn Book, without the slight twinge of guilt when we realize the author is making fun of actual people.
And the NAMES they come up with -- Quinoa, Chevron, Hashtag, I could go on, but it would be better for you to click on the link and have a laugh yourself.

4.

An actual watermelon! Covered with whipped cream and berries!

I haven't tried this, yet, but by golly it looks delicious.
A go-to summer treat is always watermelon. Imagine serving up this to my family?!

(Also, this seems to be a great a way to give your baby 'cake' on his first birthday {even though I'm not opposed to giving my one-year old actual cake}. I'm making a mental note here.)

5.
This song.

I was in need of catchy tunes to clean the house by, and more specifically, catchy tunes to motivate the boys to clean.

(Not Patrick, mind you, he overhauled our master bedroom and cleaned and vacuumed our van this morning.
He calls it "the first day of vacation." I call it "love.")

A friend of mine suggested this group and this song in particular has made our home a little happier when I need to remind them (over and over) to pick up their books before dinner.
Plus a little pre-dinner dance party never hurt anyone, right?
Ca c'est bon, non?

  1. I am suspicious of the watermelon cake. It seems to be a practical joke to me. Dairy and watermelon, in my experience, are a sure recipe for stomach issues. :( I'd probably make a pareve chocolate icing to go with it, because we love melons and chocolate together. Too bad melon season is pretty much over. :(

  2. Too funny that you mentioned anthropologie. I went there with a gift certificate yesterday as we drove back from hfx. I felt very strange and completely out of my element. Stick to VV. I will blog about it.

  3. I'm also not so sure about the watermelon + cream combo. Maybe it would be amazing, though. This might be one place where non-dairy whipped topping is better than real whipped cream. :) The "cake" certainly looks beautiful.

We love cleaning dance parties around here, especially to L'Angelus! I love that band! I think "Goin' Back to Ponchatoula" might be my favorite to get me up and bopping around.

  4. I'm in love with the fact that you linked Suri's burn book...I thought I was the only one reading it! :D
