It's been five years

We celebrated our fifth anniversary this week. It was truly enjoyable day. We were able to get to Mass as a family, which was lovely, and the kids were excited because we hyped it for them a little (not to be self-centred, but because we think it's an occasion worth celebrating as a family).

Noah even surprised us with a gift! While out doing an errand with his aunt, he decided he wanted to give us a big bag of marshmallows. Not the size of the bag, but the marshmallows themselves.

Enormous.

He promptly asked us if we could go camping that night and roast them by the fire.


Isaiah "helped" me set the table.

I'm kind of in love with how we went from having virtually nothing when we got married, to so many beautiful things, basically all given to us!

Tablecloth: Dollarama find-o'-steel from my Mom. It seemed appropriate because my bouquet was lilies.
China: A beautiful hand-me-down from my mother-in-law. It was her own mother's.
Hutch: (still empty; lame!) Inherited from my beloved Nana
Chairs: From the previous owner! How generous are they?!
Flowers: From our very own garden, which of course I didn't plant, because I have a purple thumb



Noah refused to even look at the camera,
and Isaiah was unsure about my photoshoot, but you get the idea.
We had our romantic dinner at home, avec les enfants.
Now that our live-in sister has a job working nights and evenings, we'll have to see when another 'actual' date can take place.



The boys were in delightfully good moods all day,
and I caught this on camera; not staged.
Boy, do they ever look like their father when they're pouring over books?!

(Meanwhile, they look more like me when they're dancing like the characters from Peanuts.)


It's hard to take a flattering picture of yourself,
 but I wanted to document me at 22 weeks pregnant. 
More than half way there!







Patrick, I'm so happy you're stuck with me...

    Oh my, we're those wedding shots pose or were you sneezing? The shots of the house look so beautiful and charming, wow. And what a very nice maternity shirt. I will ask you in person where Katie's job is.

      Oh these were real life sneezes caught on camera by none other than Francis. I guess that's the downside of having your brother-in-law as the photographer; he thinks it's fun to not delete such shots. :P

    Adorable post! The house looks great. You must be having so much fun setting things up and enjoying all the new furniture. Hope to pop by again sometime soon for a visit...or maybe we'll be seeing each other at the beach!

    Those pictures of you at the end totally made this for me! haha! You are adorable. Your new dining room is lovely and I'm glad you guys were able to enjoy a nice dinner and wine on your anniversary! With or without the kids, it's still so special to mark the occasion :) Miss you!

    I'm laughing at your wedding photos, yet still think you are incredibly beautiful! And Joseph thinks it's funny too, although he has no idea what he's laughing about. Your new house looks so sweet! I hope we can come and visit you someday.

~1~ I'm rather behind the eight ball on the first day of school blog post, seeing as though we've been at it for over a week, but oh my, what a week it was. On Monday I needed to do some errands -- the weekly groceries, a trip to the bank, and I was in need of a gift for my mother-in-law who's birthday was coming up. She is an avid bibliophile, and I thought she might like One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, something I haven't read (yet!) but based on my exposure to Ann Voskamp's writing, it really seemed up my mother-in-law's alley. Rather than wasting the gas by going into the city another day during the week, I decided to bundle the kids up and do all the errands in one packed morning. We had a grand ol' time. We always do, really, when we head out (especially when we are lucky enough to have  this song  play on the radio while we cruise around). When we arrived at Chapters, I quickly found the Voskamp book, found a nice day-planner for myself at 75% off (yipee!) and then told the boys we could play around in the kids' section for a while. 7 Quick Takes on things that are bringing me JOY

I don't even know if anyone still does 7 Quick Takes anymore, but I was in the mood for an old-school blog post, so here goes. 1. The Nester on Instagram . Her stories taking her followers shopping are DELIGHTFUL. She goes to antique malls or home goods stores and explains why you want feather throw pillows, not poly. Or why you want accent items that are at least as big as pineapple (any smaller, these items will begin to feel like clutter). It's really tremendously helpful and she's just so sweet and uplifting! {Do you not use this app? Never fear. Even without an Instagram account, you can open the website on your computer browser, and because her profile is set to public, you can access her photos and stories.} The Nester is just really calming, wise and has such great home decor advice.
