Life via my camera lens and (hubby's) laptop

I love hearing Noah say "We're having a busy day!" because often he says that in reference to, say, a day that we go out on our weekly grocery trip, do a finger-painting, read three books AND Mommy washes the dishes.

Busy times, indeed.

Somehow when I tell him as I get Isaiah dressed in the morning, "we've got to get moving! We're going to have a busy day!" he perks up immensely. The "busy-ness" could simply be a bunch of housework I need to get done alongside him and his brother, but so long as I present it as a full, exciting day, he's ready to go for it.

So I give you, my "busy" life:

Sunday afternoon. Isaiah learned how to do a flip with Daddy's help

Watching The Piano Guys

Taking a little breather after making a cake for the church supper
(which the church ladies even told me was "lovely" looking -- it was! -- and I forgot to photograph it!! And now the blogging world will still think I am a walking Cake-Wreck!)

Noah's 'homework' from 'preschool'
(Two words that I never thought I would be using, especially the former, because he's only three!)

The assignment was to make a collage from food packages and I was at a loss to find many packaged food items around our house (except the cereal boxes, a gift from their beloved Gooey) so I actually cut the cover off a brand-new box of Tetley we had in the cupboard!

Outdoorsy-ness without mittens or hats! I think it was +8!

Slightly weird self-portrait.
Just. loving. the. sun.
(And I finally took down the boughs and Christmas lights while the kids played!)

He was making himself a lifeboat, obviously

"Please, child, please, go play! I'm making your dinner!"
"Oh what's that, you want me to pick you up? Oh, okay, maybe for a second. Oh okay, you wanna pose for a picture too? That's fine. Oh, you want to dance to some Motown, too, while we're at it? Okay, groovy."

The only number he knows is 3, so he always asks for "three vroom-vrooms!"
(and three 'abba', his odd word for wooden spoon)

More 'homework'. We like to do this while Isaiah naps.
I peel some veggies, often right beside him and either we chat, or I read aloud to him while he does a drawing or craft. I like it.
(Mind you, I put Noah down for a quiet time during Isaiah's nap every day, but some days it's only for about 20 minutes so I can use the bathroom with some privacy -- hurray! -- and have a moment's quiet before we get down to what the organized moms might call "homeschooling".)

Noah-isms of late:
  • "I want to be the patron saint of houses, so when I die people will pray to me and then they will get a new house!"
  • (While singing "Joy to the World" together) "You can say 'the Lord is come" and I will say 'the Lord has come' so people will know He already has come but He will come again too"
  • Hearing him sing along with Taylor Swift's "Ours" (I unabashedly love it, especially the line "I love the gap between your teeth." {Insert picture of Patrick's gap-y grin here})
Isaiah-isms:

  • (Mommy: "Who do you love?") Isaiah: "Nana! Gooey! Noah! Bum cream!"
  • After every diaper change, he declares excitedly, "Khakis: off!"
  • This can't be replicated with words, but he does an excellent impersonation of a seagull on command.

What can I say?
The days are just packed!

  2. Great to see your little clan in action, Jenna! I haven't taken photos like this in a while. Mostly all we have on the camera is endless shots of our sweet Annika, who incidentally, is the reason our home is lacking in photo opportunities. Mostly we just sit around and gush over how cute she is. And take more pictures.
