Four years of marriage
So it's been awhile since I told you about the sweet things my husband does for me. But I assure you, he still does them. Take our anniversary, which just happened on Thursday.
For starters, he took the day off work at my request -- not so much so he could be off on our anniversary as though one oughtn't work on one's anniversary, but so we could have an extra-long weekend to tackle some household projects together, while still squeezing in time for fun Canada Day events and strawberry picking**.
So, on a vacation day and our anniversary, perhaps the ideal day for a hard-working man to sit with his feet up drinking a beer and reading Plato, he cleaned out the closets. All of them.
That sure made my day.
But the highlight was the evening. My only job was to secure the babysitter (easy, with grandparents a'plenty around) and Patrick nominated himself to plan our anniversary celebration.
After I got the kids to bed and got changed (he told me to dress up, but wear warm tights?!), we got into the car and drove off to...
Martinique Beach!
Patrick had made an amazing dinner that we ate at a picnic table just feet away from the waves crashing. He had even thought of bringing a white table cloth, our 'fancy' silverware and china. China, at the beach!
I wish I had taken a photo because it was more romantic than all my idyllic dreams of how anniversaries should go, as well as a picture-perfect example of how the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia is God's country. But I had forgotten the memory card for our camera. I did, however, laughingly tell Patrick "I am totally blogging this, you know!"
Anyway, the reason I am posting this is because I realized after my most recent middle-of-the-night post in which I made my life sound so miserable, that in actual fact I have a more wonderful life than I can imagine.
It's all thanks to God, for the graces in the sacrament of matrimony, and for His wisdom in finding me such a good, thoughtful, patient, hard-working husband. Four years of marriage, and it's only getting better!
** The question IS, will she or won't she make jam?!
