This is a cake I made for my eldest son, Noah (it still shocks me to say "eldest", given that his brother isn't even one month old yet). Today is the anniversary of his baptism, and he's really fascinated by baptisms lately, especially after attending his cousin's last week. In fact, he keeps asking if he can be baptized, particularly whenever we mention our baby's upcoming baptism.
Um... sorry, sweetheart, you already are.
So I thought making him a cake in honour of his anniversary would cheer him up and help him celebrate the excitement of having already been baptized.
It's rather cheerful, don't you think?

Noah learning how to hammer an actual nail, while being supervised by my father, who's building doors on my husband's soon-to-be office. I love seeing how sweet my dad is with his grandchildren, even when he teaches them freaky tricks like how to wield a real hammer.{funny}

Our beautiful saint calendar made by a friend of ours in Ontario. It's really worthy of it's own blog post, given the amount of effort she put into it and how much it inspires me. This is very real today because as you'll see, it still says May. I actually changed the individual weekdays to reflect the month, but haven't changed the month title, OR the Sundays. Um, I've been preoccupied with my newborn, my two-year old, and my sister-in-law in town.
That calendar is pretty. The cake is lovely, esp the idea behind it, the baby on the table top does make me laugh but my favorite is that grandpa. That is a very sweet moment. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday.
Don't worry about the calendar thing (your calendar is lovely, by the way). This past weekend my husband finally hung my bulletin board in our learning room (I am not to be trusted with nails and drywall, believe me) and as I gazed happily upon my old friend, hung now on a new wall (we moved at the dead end of February), it occurred to me that something was amiss somehow. Oh yes--the month was still on May.
ReplyDeleteLove all of it Jenna! And our calendar is still on May too...we're perpetually behind!
