16 weeks. I kid you not.
How far along? 16 weeks. It's unreal to say that really! But yes, time is flying. The days may seem long, but the weeks have gone by incredibly quickly. I LOVE the second trimester!
Total weight gain: I have lost 10 pounds so far, due to morning sickness and a seriously tiny appetite. I talked Patrick into buying more snackable 'convenience' foods for the meantime so I could make sure I was getting something in (my favourite yogurt cups that come pre-sweetened -- not as nutritious as mixing mixing plain yogurt and fruit like usual, but more likely for me to actually eat; Spoon-size shredded wheat instead of oatmeal -- as oatmeal is a serious food revulsion of mine during both pregnancies). I think that weight loss will be 'gain' soon enough!
Maternity clothes? Loving them! I went shopping with my mom about three weeks ago at a local consignment shop and got an incredible amount of stylish cute things for $53 -- 5 shirts, two skirts and a Bella Band. I'm thrifty, occasionally tight-fisted with cash, and so spending over $50 on myself in one shot felt like an indulgence. And yet, it really makes ALL the difference to wake up to a wardrobe I can feel pretty in. Also, my equally thrifty husband thought it was a steal, too. Whew.
Sleep? Am I already needing to get up the middle of the night to empty my bladder?! Yes, unfortunately. Also, I don't have much of a 'bump' yet (an odd word, I think) but I am already uncomfortable in bed. I hope this was just this week and I can sleep normally for at least a while yet.
Best moment this week: Hosting a Blessingway for my friend on Saturday. It brought back beautiful memories of my own Blessingway held on Valentine's Day, 2009 and also beautiful memories of Noah's birth.
Movement? Yes! I am in awe that I am definitely feeling a little Craine going exploring throughout my womb already. Keep it up, Baby. It makes Mommy melt every time.
Gender? I don't know. I was so certain Noah was a boy, but I really don't know with this pregnancy. Either sound so wonderful. And I don't mean to be cliche; either really do sound wonderful.
Cravings? Guacamole. In ridiculous quantities. Leading to my son playing with an avocado this week as though it were a doll, bathing it and carrying it around with great love (imitating my own affection towards the fatty little green fruit, perhaps?).
What I miss: My sister. As Christmas approaches, I feel homesick for her and her children; this will be the first Christmas I won't be with them (although her daughter, my sweet Godchild, was away from me one Christmas, when she was in the womb). I am happy for her that she will be able to start up new traditions for her family in their own home, but sad that Christmas as I have known it until now will be so different.
What I am looking forward to: Saturday! The day starts with decorating my grandmother's backyard with Christmas lights. Most of my aunts and uncles will be there, as well as my cousins, so it will be great to see them all. Plus, it will be so nice to see how happy my otherwise housebound grandmother will be when she gets a massive lights display later that day!
Following this event, I will be enjoying dinner with good friends, including a lovely friend from Ontario and her new baby whom I have yet to meet, and her sister, the Sister, who is one of my best friends. Thank you so much for the invite, Julie!
Weekly wisdom: Eating when you're pregnant is a good idea. Eat! (I'm saying this to myself as a rallying cry, as moments after I finish this, I will go make myself a large snack. Sigh. So nice to have an appetite again!)
Milestones: Right as I was typing this, Patrick came upstairs to show me we had received two government cheques in the mail. Here's a freakish secret of mine -- I had never filed my taxes until we found out we were pregnant. My procrastination paid off substantially, it turns out, as these cheques just knocked off the remaining amount of Patrick's student loans! I cried when he showed them to me. Had I filed in a timely fashion, I probably would have spent my return every year on clothes or CDs, and now, instead, our family's needs are being met. God is so good!

What a wonderful surprise re. the taxes - how wonderfully God provides. I am looking forward to saturday as well although Noah will really make me miss my older children. Also, we will be using the Chalice catalogue this year for Christmas.
