When the saints go marching in
Oh what a truly pun-ny title, given that we are in the midst of getting ready for All Saints Day here in Craine Corner.
Yet what actually inspired me to write that title wasn't so much the theme of tomorrow's party but rather the amazing help I received today.
Since Patrick is away this weekend, and won't be arriving home until about 45 minutes before our little All Saints party begins, I am left with doing all the prep work.
I must have expressed my terror at the thought quite vividly to my family, because my in-laws offered to baby-sit Noah for the morning while I got some preparations done. As well, my father offered to come during this toddler-free time to lend a hand.
If that wasn't enough, and really, it is more than enough, my in-laws returned with Noah in time for his nap, but stayed until close to supper hour to help out! My father, likewise!
My house is almost immaculate right now! Something I haven't enjoyed since... well... the last time Patrick went away and my parents came to rescue me from my slovenly self.
(I say 'almost' because the master bedroom, which is also the office of the Canadian Bureau Chief of lifesitenews.com, is looking extremely disheveled. Patrick just moved his desk into our room last week in attempt to have more peace and quiet during his work day, since his previous "office" was a corner of our living room! ... So, we are still trying to create some order in this dual-function space. Thankfully, it is a huge room. But still. I feel for him -- going to bed at night and seeing his work waiting for him?! It would be like if we moved our bed into the kitchen! But I digress!)
And the decorations are up!
I only have to finish slapping together a rather last-minute costume tonight. It shouldn't take me long, because the sheer lack of time left, combined with my desire to shrug and say, "Meh" are setting my standards low. Plus, the need to be perfect left my body when I was 9 and thought reading the Encyclopedia from cover to cover would be fun -- I never made it past 'A' and have forever since been quite content with my mediocrity!
Anyway, the costume is of a saint near and dear to, and occasionally a'feared by, all OLSWA students and alumni.
Any guesses? :-)
