7 Quick Takes Vol. 1

Seven Quick Takes Friday!

The internet connection here at my lovely parents' house is finnicky at best, so rather than attempt to download the logo from Conversion Diary, I'm plunging into the blog carnival as is.

With a fussy baby in my lap as I type, this is the best I will be able to do for an entry. Enjoy.

1. This is our moving-in weekend! We signed a lease for a 3-bedroom apartment and got our keys today. My darling husband is currently assembling furniture at our place across the bridge with his dad while I eat Nibs, type and nurse the baby back at the parents' homestead.

2. The apartment is two levels! This should probably apply to Quick Take #1 but it is so fab, I am putting it on it's own line.

3. My dear sister and her family arrive in less than a week to our blessed, foggy province. I am nearly standing outside of myself with glee! I envision strollercising with her, chasing around my hilarious, delightful godchild and watching my mother light up with joy as all three grandkids surround her.

4. I have officially HAD IT with the post-partum blues. I definitely haven't felt "depressed" yet (a real miracle in itself, given my previous struggles with depression), but mostly sluggish. I blame it on the c-section/exhaustion of moving/sleep deprivation/unsettled living arrangements/being waited on hand and foot while living with darling, generous parents/over-indulgence in sugar/using all these as excuses for doing nothing. So I am committed to getting back to taking my chromium and other supplements, watching my blood sugar, going outside EVERY day for a walk and beginning to excercise with a post-partum workout video I ordered when I was still pregnant with Noah.

10 weeks after giving birth, I owe it to myself, to my dear baby and my amazing husband to stop licking my wounds and acting like recovering from a c-section entitles me to be virtually stationary for days on end.

5. I watched "Confessions of a Shopaholic" last night as was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it.

6. One of my dearest friends from university is getting married tomorrow. I am overcome with joy for her, as she is a beautiful, wise, womanly woman who is beautifully and joyfully surrendered to what lies ahead. Besides that, she is marrying an amazing man. I just can't believe I won't be there, though. I am feeling VERY sad and nostalgic at the thought.

On a slightly different note, I've observed that Catholics of the NET variety tend to travel to their teammates weddings, regardless of the distance or expense. I wish we alumni from OLSWA were that dedicated (that we would at least attend the weddings of our our classmates).

7. Last but very un-least is the great news: Sunday marks one year of marriage for me and Patrick. In some ways, it went by so quickly than I can hardly believe we're there already. And yet, with a baby already here, it feels like we're "so married" already that saying we've been married for only one year doesn't seem to do justice to the changes, excitement and growth we've experienced in these past 12 months. All I can say is, I am so very blessed to be living in such a joyous sacrament!

Comments

  1. #1 & 2 - So excited for you guys! Can't wait to check out your new digs.
#3 - Mom's gonna just DIE. Justin, too.
#4 - Strollercising is DEFINITELY in your near future! Especially since we have a brand new stroller that needs to be broken in. We'll tear up Hali but GOOD! :)
#5 - I've been hesitant to watch it, since I read the book... but maybe I'll check it out since you liked it.
#6 - I have three teammates getting married this summer, and I MIGHT make it to one of the weddings, but possibly none of them. :(
#7 - Happy early anniversary! But I'll say it again in person on Sunday. :)

  2. Jenna :) first, so happy for you guys moving into your new home :) you'll be in our thoughts and prayers as you cozy up the new nest with love & family. Next time we are in Hali we will try to drop in with some welcome to new home baked goodness of the delicious but not bad for the blood sugar variety :)
I totally know how you feel about missing weddings...we're going through the same thing. it is hard for sure, we've missed a number already, and are also not able to head to veronica's this weekend, but we'll be sending up extra prayers.
And also, YAY For one year :) congrats...it's weird how it both goes by so fast, and seems like so much longer than a year eh? at least, I know that's how we're feeling about the fast approaching two year anniversary :)

  3. Jenna, Happy, happy anniversary. We did all your bay stuff for you this weekend: triathlon, hosted people for the sebanc wedding and watched the wedding photos being taken while i was supposed to be inside for Mass. The bridal party looked quite beautiful. I will always remember your anniversary as it is also dave's mom's birthday. I do find that a daily constitutional helps loads with recovery from pregnancy and childbirth - mentally and physically. God bless all three of you on this wonderful day.
