Curbing the insanity!

What does a husband who needs to get up at 3:30am, a pregnant insomniac, and an incurable Internet addiction spell?

Blogging before sunrise.

I know sleep would be a reasonable solution to my constant tiredness, irritability and lack of energy. Trouble is, as soon as I wake up, even if it's just to go the bathroom, I just can't go back to sleep.

Today, I am plagued with to-do lists and goals and thinking, "good grief, my due date is in four and half weeks. I have so much work to do!"

Amidst the tortured thought processes, I came across this article this morning. For someone obsessed with throwing things out*, this was music to my ears.

Will I dare to accept the 100 Things Challenge? Will I dare to embark on it in my last few weeks before Baby?

Better yet, won't having a baby (and all the stuff they seem to generate!) not necessitate such a stream-lining?

I shall ponder this as I trek back to bed, hoping to get more than my current four and half hours of sleep!

* In a fit of... nesting... organizing... or simply asserting my will to power over clutter, I went through a stack of papers from our desk last week and put almost ALL of them in the recycling pile. The DH was duly impressed. After having glanced at said pile, however, he noticed a curious-looking envelope about to be turfed. Inside was our marriage certificate. It was probably hell-bound to becoming a cardboard pizza box or a stack of Hilroy looseleaf.

  1. 3:30am would have been the perfect time for a chat with your fellow pregnant-insomniac sister. I went to bed at 9:30, then I was up every hour until 2:30, at which point Francis was sick, so that left me awake until around 5am. Norah got me up at 6:10. Ouch.

As for the purging, DO IT NOW!! Don't wait until it's moving time. Trust me. Baby + moving = plenty o' stress. Get the ruthless purge done NOW. Better yet, do it YESTERDAY. :)

  2. Jenna, I find that the sort of insomnia that you are experiencing during pregnancy is usually solved by moving to a different bed/couch and eating something - preferably a banana, or cheese and crackers plus milk. A drop in blood sugar will not allow sleep in my experience. My dad, sister and I all sleep with bananas next to our beds. I'm not trying to give preachy advice but I have particular expertise in this area and those things have really helped. There have been many times during the past 7 years that I have woken in a different bed than the one in which I started.
